Industrial-Academic Cooperation Project
This project is a portable sewing workstation that lets fashion designers show their working process to the public. We want to show society the beauty of wasted textiles and offer the community a way to reuse waste textiles by presenting the complete production process as performance. Meanwhile, we hope to share the story behind these unique materials.
Background
Knowing their role, strength and weakness, and their workflows
Sewing Co.Ltd. (now named REHOW) is a foundation founded by Siruba, an industrial sewing machine company. They started the project called “Resew’s Lab”, to promote sustainable fashion by collecting wasted textiles discarded by factories and turning them into beautiful artwork. They also hold courses to invite the community to join in this project. The revenue they earn through selling their work and holding events are used as operating funds and supporting people in need.

Working area and display
The entire workstation is divided based on insights from designer workflows, aiming to enable creators to unleash their talents quickly and without constraints within limited space. The working surface revolves around the sewing machine and can be divided into a display area, an ironing/cutting area, and a secondary workspace/vertical display area.
Storage space is conveniently located next to the ironing/cutting area, allowing designers to access materials quickly.

Meeting their needs
Flexible storage
The storage space of Resew’s Sewing Cart can be adjusted to accommodate different materials and fabrics, catering to the diverse range of projects that Sewing Co. Ltd. might undertake.
By adjusting the position of the crossbars, users can create shelves with different heights, or they may hang the sample fabrics on the crossbars with hangers. While creators can also carry separate storage bins when setting up booths, having commonly used materials at hand can be much more convenient.
Thread rack The holes in front of the sewing area allow creators to securely hold different colored thread spools, enabling quick changes according to different fabrics.
BobbinsThe side tabletop cover has grooves to hold up to six bobbins.
LightingLEDs are embedded in the crossbeam to provide creators with ample lighting.
Installations
To maintain stability during sewing, Resew’s Sewing Cart is constructed with the sewing machine unit (including the tabletop) as the base and built outward from it with columns and board structures.
